what would you do with half a million pounds? it’s a life-changing sum.

And through Walk for Wellbeing, it’s changed the lives of thousands of hospitality people.

In the last 6 years, Walk for Wellbeing has raised an incredible £500,000 to help power the essential work of Hospitality Action, supporting hospitality people in their time of need. Including:

  • Counselling sessions to help manage anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and addiction.

  • Emergency grants to prevent evictions, reconnect utilities and clear priority debts such as rent arrears, council tax and energy bills.

  • Family support grants to help parents cover essentials like school uniforms, food, and heating, especially during winter months.

That’s what half a million pounds can do, and so much more.

And because thousands of hospitality people supported Walk for Wellbeing, thousands of hospitality people can get the help they need.

how it all began.

Walk for Wellbeing began in 2020. During the pandemic, I had the simple thought that walking would bring people together, open up conversations around mental health, and at the same time raise funds for Hospitality Action. I gave Sean Wheeler a call to share my vision and concept and asked for his thoughts and help. He was immediately on board, and the very first Walk for Wellbeing came to life. We began walking in (then required) small, distanced groups in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

Since then, Walk for Wellbeing has grown into the largest hospitality walk in the UK, involving thousands of people and raising a remarkable £500,000 for Hospitality Action.

from strength to strength.

Last year, the brand was gifted to the team at Hospitality Action, and they continue to take it from strength to strength. I remain closely involved, as a strategic advisor, steer and spokesperson. And mum continues as lead partner for the initiative and host of the London walk.

This October, Walk for Wellbeing was bigger than ever. Over 1,400 people joined hosted walks in twelve cities across the UK, with new locations Cornwall, Edinburgh, Newcastle and York joining Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Manchester . Hundreds more walked it their way between World Mental Health Day and 26 October.

Walk for Wellbeing 2025 raised an incredible £165,000, with every penny going to Hospitality Action, bringing the total raised over 6 years to a life changing grand total of £500,000.

to the future.

It’s astonishing what Walk for Wellbeing has become. But what’s truly amazing is how many people it’s helped, through the vital work of Hospitality Action. And all because we come together every year as a hospitality community to walk the walk and make a positive difference together.

So, a huge personal thank you… especially to Maria and the team at Hospitality Action, our chair Sean, the team at Custard and The Relationship, our wonderful organising committee and city hosts across the UK, our sponsors Caterer.com, Imperial London Hotels and Sona, to everyone who has taken part, donated, supported, or shared the message for Walk for Wellbeing. You’ve all helped turn miles into meals, steps into shelter, and walks into wellbeing awareness and support.

Walk for Wellbeing returns once again in 2026, and we’d love you to get involved as a sponsor, supporter, or participant.
