two months to go: why walk for wellbeing matters more than ever.

Walk for Wellbeing is just two months away (it’s hard to believe!) - a time each year when hospitality people step forward together.

Walks start across the UK from Saturday 10th October with most taking place on Sunday 25th October – or you can ‘walk it your way’ at any time between those dates.

And this year, the reasons to get involved couldn’t be clearer.

helping people just like you.

It’s no secret that hospitality people are under sustained pressure. That shows itself mentally, financially, physically, emotionally.

And it shows itself in another obvious way too, because requests for help from Hospitality Action have never been higher. That’s calls to their helpline, and applications for grants and assistance.

Behind every call to Hospitality Action is a real person just like you, trying to keep going in one of the toughest operating environments our sector has ever faced.

So, Walk for Wellbeing matters even more this year.

but it’s not just about fundraising.

Yes, the event raises vital funds for Hospitality Action; funds that directly support colleagues in crisis. But it also gives hospitality people and teams something rare; time together, connection and community, and a reminder that none of us carry the load alone.

Walk for Wellbeing is built on the importance of promoting wellbeing, in individuals and in teams. It’s based on the knowledge that movement together creates space for conversation and connection.

When we walk side by side, we slow down, talk and listen. We reconnect with our teams, our friends, and meet new people. And we do it while supporting the charity that supports us all.

london: this is your moment.

There are walks taking place all over the country, and once again this year mum is proud to head up the largest of them – the London Walk. It’s time for London hospitality to show what they can do, because Walk for Wellbeing is for individuals, teams, leaders, operators, suppliers, everyone!

what you gain from taking part.

People who take part in Walk for Wellbeing gain so much from it:

  • personal wellbeing: time away from the noise, fresh air, movement, headspace.

  • team connection: walking together builds trust, strengthens relationships and creates space for conversations that don’t happen in the office or on shift.

  • Industry solidarity: being there demonstrates that hospitality is a community

  • purpose: every step helps Hospitality Action support someone facing hardship, crisis or burnout.

  • accessibility: no training needed. Just walking. Do what you can.

  • pride: being part of something bigger than your own business or role.

And if you’re a leader, encouraging your team to join is one of the simplest, most meaningful wellbeing actions you can take this year.
